Two days working on new place i feel myself like a white man! :D
I love to be polite with people, to smile all the time, to talk a little with visitors... It's really the best job ever!!! I do my job! I do it great!
I could not get this job, cause no any place for people from chambermaid to move to. But for me, the first job was really like a nightmare! I had talk to manager, explained him the situation and he understood me. He helped me! Such a nice guy, great manager! The real manager must care of employee problems! He was not indifferent to my problems, so the biggest THANKS to him!
About the agency ''nikos...'' - All that they promised to us - were lies! Maybe not all, but the most important things was not as they told it would be.
If you are the one, who wants to come here for practice, be careful ! 1. do not go alone! All, who was not alone, "survived". I am alone here, no one can help me... 2. you should really have good english + communication skills! 3. find out everything about the place you go to work in. 4. be ready to live in a small room with 5 people from different countries. So hard to live like that.... 5. take some money with you, cause sometimes the food here is really disgusting ! Your stomach will prove my words after some days living here... :))) ---- So, wait for the next news. For now, it's really nice time for me here!

some really big scandals between me and albanians, and I got fired!
But i really am happy, cause... general manager appointed me to another position!!!
Yeeeees!!!!!!!!!
So, from now on my job is to say hallo to everybody and to smile all the time!
This stuff I love to do :D
Can you all imagine, after two weeks of being a slave, I got high results... God...

12 day
Today i worked in THE RESIDENCE hotel with bulgarian and albanian ladies.
It was the easiest day ever. I did really easy. They helped me as it should be. Other colleagues really sucks - they always shout, they give you the hardest work and so on... These ladies were nice.... I will ask to work with them again and again :d
After work i came to internet café and chat with my family and friends... YOU ALL are the one i have here.... Nothing else i have to be happy now... nothing

As i said, after work you have only two dreams. First - to sleep... second - to go home.
I am so sad here.... I am totally alone!
If you ever thought about going to work abroad - do it only with somebody ! Here is a lot of couples, friends and classmates! No one is as crazy as me, coming here alone.
I am dying of loneliness and sadness... It's so boring, so you do not want to see the sun, to swim and anything else... just to cry.

10 day
Today is DAY-OFF :))) I was walking around the city, making some photos, which I will upload later...
The greek guy i met yesterday was with my all this day! We were on the mountain here, near my hotel! There is a very old castle and church. Nice place!
After it we went to the beach again, having sunbaths. I am so red now, like boiled lobster :D
The sun here is so hot!!! You can lie there one hour and get red :))
Thanks to this guy for taking me everywhere :))

The manager told me now, that today was not day-off to me, but it should be!!!
It is just misunderstanding from another managers side! It's not my fault ! She does not speak english good, so maybe she mixed up something, but she told me that I have IT today !!!
Stupid she! So tomorrow, for the punishment, they gave me one more day-off without salary!
brrr.... I hate when people speak only on their native language! To live like in this world and exactly in EU, we all MUST speak at least english !!!

All day I worked in LATINO BAY HOTEL. There is a less hard work, so I had a little time to relax there. There is nice food, always a lot on a plate!
All males there likes me, so I have nice conditions there - a lot of attention from their side :D

This evening I was again with swedish guy from the beach. We walked so long around the town... This night we were together on the beach. It was freeze, windy...
So you see, here is not only hard work, but a very nice people and places around!
P.S.
Before the night, i met on more guy, greek, who helped me with my phone number registration! This is stupid system - when you buy sim card, you must register it with your passport in the office of your operator. So, one more male friend i got. :)))))))))))
All males there likes me, so I have nice conditions there - a lot of attention from their side :D

Working as hard as usual. Nothing happened this day...

7 day
Today was the sixth day of work, seventh day of being here...
We cleaned windows in one restaurant, belonging to our hotel. It was hell again, cause it was all from windows!!! Can you imagine, all around only windows... so we cleaned them for 7 hours. The first hour we were working in reception - cleaned whole hall and rubbish bins.
We had no breakfast, as usual, and eat only at 16:30. After that stuff, you have no any strength to do anything!
I am sitting in a hall near general manager office, waiting for him to talk about the conditions here...
I know that he will not do anything. He will not appoint me to another position here... to any that is better than mine now... But hope dies last !!!
It is my the last drop here... if he will not answer on my request, i will do something worse.

6 day
This day really horrible ! The most tough day, cause a lot of "ANAHORISS", when you need to clean everything more hard, change the bedclothes, clean windows and else...
We had about 60 rooms for anahoriss.
I can't feel my feet, my spin is also burns... The mood is low. I am very depressed now.
Does it worth it to live like that ???
Now i have some times to speak to my family and friends, but i have nothing to tell them... I do not want them to be worried, cause nothing is right here!!!
Nikos travel agency lied about every little thing here! I am shocked ! Everyone who came from this agency is going to complain on it after coming back to Latvia ! So, you see, nothing is really right...

The day I cried like crazy… I started in this building (forum residence) where we, workers, live…. Cleaning the territory around, then the manager lifted me to another building, called Latino Bay. There I was working for about 7 hours…. The last hour I have got some problems with another manager who was not delighted with my work, he wanted more, so shouted at me on Greece language… My manager (of all maids) took me to another place again, to FORUM BEACH. Fucking stupid day…
No one can imagine how it is, to clean large territories of hotels, for 8 hours, sometimes more than 8.… The weather is very hot here, about 35 degree in the shadow place… on sun it is minimally 45. Some days ago it was near to 50...
Without breakfast, on a very hot land, working without any opportunity and allowance to sit for a minute…. Without normal behaviour... working with Greeks and Albanians....

Morning... cleaning some halls and a lot of rooms...
The day was OK, and i did not want to eat at all, only to drink..
I want to talk to my family and my love, but the thing with the internet is so stupid, so you see, i could came here only today...
I got some new friends and one manager (Immanuel / Manoly ).
If something would happen in this hotel, ask for him :D

Again, 8:00 i need to work...
I forgot to tell the funny thing - only some people speaks English here... All others speak Greece or ALBANIAN !!! Why Albanian ? ha ha... ya... a lot of Albanians work here, without knowledge of English...
My manager, Christina, does not speak English either...
How do i understand what to do ?
This is funny story... They all speak very loudly, and sometimes i think they are shouting.. The show me on their fingers what to do, and i do it... if it is correct, they say ''bravo'', if not, than ''NO GUT''. :D

Ya, i am maid... i need to clean the rooms, take the rubbish off, and else.. the work is really tough...
So the 3d day they took me to another building of our hotel (forum hotels has a lot of buildings around), i worked there with greece lady who just took all tips around and gave me the hardest work... than she gone, and i needed to clean floors alone. She is very crazy little bitch... Whhaah...

Second day.... working from 8:00 till 16:00. No breakfast, no any lunch... Only one meal i got in 16:10.... It was the stuff like i never seen in my life - very salted, overcooked, just very tough...
Ok, i eat it and went to the beach again, to see the sun... The sea is very unfriendly. The wind is soooo hard, always blowing like mad. I tried to swim, but i could not - the stones under foots, the wind, waves that push you off....
Then i went to another hotel to get wifi internet, cause in my hotel i have no opportunity to get it !!!
About the condition in hotel - In the rooms for MAXIMUM 3 persons live 3 - 6 people!!! The cockroaches are everywhere !!!!! The mosquitoes are around, biting like in hell...
The weather always is very nice - on sun it is about 50 degrees, in shadow places it's about 35, maybe more, maybe less....

The first day was OK... i had problems with vodafone mobile card, cause no one explained to me that i need to register the number with my passport in vodafone office in the centre of city.... i did not knew it, so till nowadays i am with my latvian card (roaming). I could not call to my hotel to ask for transfer, so i took a bus and for 2.30 EU i got to the centre of this city. Then i took the taxi and for 5 EU i got to hotel.
In hotel i met some nice people on the reception. Then they showed me my room (for three people). I got my time to relax....
I went to the sea and looking around walked to realize where i am.
The cars around is so crazy... they are fast and riding not by laws at all !!! They always beep when they see beautiful girl on the street - so strange to my country... at least for me.
Then, i went to sleep and the next day was my first work-day.

Airport
I am in the airport of Vilnius now, waiting for a plane coming. A bit strange, boring, scary... a lot of strange people... i can see some girls that surely is going to have nice to in Greece, and some old people who are looking around and speaking about how other people looks like :D
I am sitting on a place near A5 gate, with netbook on my knees... some minutes ago i sent sms to my mum that i am OK.... All my friends and family waiting for me back...
God, please, let this plane get to the point.
God, i hope you hear me, or at least read my blog. ;)
Whoooff.... the flight is direct, Vilnius - Rhodes (5:00 AM)
Wanna sleep... a bit :)))

Tonight!
Hey! I am Julia (20). I am from Riga, Latvia. Student of business studies.
This summer I am going to work in Greece via WORK&TRAVEL GREECE program. I've got this opportunity with NIKOS TRAVEL AGENCY.
Place: Greece, Rhodes Island, Ialyssos city, FORUM HOTELS
Job: Maid, 6/7 days, 8/24 h
Salary: 400 EU/month
Conditions: living in hotel, small rooms for ~ 4 girls + food included
Speaking about all costs that I had I can only count stuff I remember:
250 LS for agency, ~ 250 LS for flight costs, ~ 50 LS for personal costs... OMG, 1 EU ~ 0.702 LS
So, you see that this journey is not paid after getting salary and all extra money....
This night is my flight from Vilnius to Rhodes. So sad, that direct flights are possible only from Lithuania. Ok, does not matter...
My suitcase still is empty, because I afraid to miss any little stuff, so collecting my bag carefully looking on a list I prepared yesterday :))
The main thing was medicine... Hope my stomach would be friendly to me, and I would not have to take anything inside of it :))))
It's my the first time on the south, and I do not know how it would be... only thing I know is that there is hot!
Whooo.... I little bit nervous :))) But my family would always be waiting for me, if anything....
